With a diverse background in higher education, public relations, and journalism, I offer a unique approach to tutoring that aligns with my teaching philosophy called P.A.R.E. (Personalized, Active, Relevant, Equitable). I received my bachelor's degree from Duke University in biology and my Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in environmental science, policy, and management. I am a former editor at ISLANDS magazine and a former public relations assistant at the Tahiti Tourism Board, and now teach biology at Laney College in Oakland. I am also a freelance journalist, having written for National Geographic, Slate, the Los Angeles Times, and others, and serve as an interviewer for Duke's admissions committee.
I offer tutoring in biology, environmental science, English, and writing, and also am available for help with college essays and admissions. If you're interested, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can discuss your specific needs.
